Fujifilm XF 1655mm f/28 R LM WR Lens Fast forward to 16 and I'm a happy owner of a XE2 and I've got experience reviewing over a dozen Fujifilm cameras so my opinions are very different This time I'm also pairing it with the much more practical Fujifilm XF 1655mm f/28 R LM WR zoom instead of the razor sharp Fujifilm 35mm f/14 XF RThe Fujifilm 1655mm f/28 is a landmark lens for Fujifilm's X system The company's first prograde constant aperture zoom, it's designed to be the kind of lens that a working photographer can rely on, day in and day out In our labs, it largely lived up to that goal, though there are a few weak spots, especially as you zoom in toward 55mmFujifilm XF 1655mm f28 optical construction The Fujinon XF 1655mm f28 delivers a general purpose range that's equivalent to 24mm, making it ideal as a walkaround lens At the wideend you'll be able to capture big landscapes and decent interiors, while at the long end you'll get nice portraits or close to details

Fuji 16 55 f2 8 portrait-At 18mm, the new 1655mm f/28 shows a marked advantage in central sharpness at f/28, while holding a very slim edge in the image corners At smaller apertures, the 1655mm maintains a lead both in the center and in the corner, thoughBokeh Portraits f/28 or faster Fuji makes some incredibly sharp and fast lenses, both the fixed and zooms My all time favorite lens is the 56 f 12, which I keep saying that Fuji designed this lens just for me!

On the crop sensor Fuji's, f/28 DOF looks like f/4 On full frame cameras, f/28 can give you beautiful separation for portraits even in a zoom lens You do lose a little bit of that in the 1655, but I've found it's not an issue for what the lens is best at storytelling and documentingGet my presets here https//chrisperklesat/presetpack01/I tested the Fujifilm XT3 with the 56mm f12 against the Fujifilm XH1 and the 1655mm f28 zoomThe Fuji 1655 is the same 28 from 16 to 55 While the Fuji 1855 is f/28 only at the 18mm end, when you twist and go to 55 it goes to f/4 When zooms are not constant apertures, and you twist the barrel the exposure WILL change because it is slower at the 55 end It is not the case with the 1655, it's a fast 28 from 16 to 55
The 1655mm f/28 R LM WR lens is what Fujifilm calls their flagship standard zoom Reminder, R means it has an aperture ring, LM means the lens has a linear motor, and WR means that the lens is built to be weather resistant The lens design has 17 elements in 12 groups Three of those elements are aspherical glass, three are ED glassThe Fujifilm xf1655 f28 LM WR zoom lens is meant to be a professional alternative to carrying a bag full of primes Indeed, the build, fast AF motors, constant f28 aperture throughout the range (16mm55mm) and weather resistant WR designation allI also use both the 1655mm f 28 and the mm 28

The difference between f4 and f28 was not that big if you compare side by side and probably wouldn't notice if not seen side by side 1855 was pretty good in other focal lengths thou specially in the wider ends like 13 But I love my 1655mm even for portraits I also have , 90, 56 but I wouldn't hesitate to take portraits with 1655The 1655 is a great lens Is sharp, fast to focus, and is a constant f28 The 16 f14 is a great lens, it's sharp, has almost no distortion, is fast , and has fast af Me, for now at least (seriously I go back and forth on this constantly), the 1855 and 16The 1655mm f/28 is the clear choice for serious portrait photographers and landscape photographers The 1680mm f/4 is an amazing alternative for documentary, travel, street, and casual photographers
